LCHS Goes to the Dominican Republic 2018-2019

After our post fried chicken nap, we got back to work! Some groups helped paint, while others did dishes or continued weeding. And of course, more fun time with the kids! Since tonight is New Year's Eve, we are planning to stay up and ring in the new year with games and lots of snacks! Since we are an hour ahead, we will get to 2019 before you! Happy New Year!

UPDATE: IT WAS FRIED CHICKEN. MY NOSE WAS CORRECT!

We had a calm morning today. We started off with singing to the kids and then divided up to conquer various tasks here at Hogar Immanuel. Some groups helped clean while others helped repair the clotheslines and remove weeds. And of course, play with some kids! We will continue to garden this afternoon after lunch (it smells like fried chicken is on the menu!!). Also, Mrs. Bazz, Emi (and all of us!) hope you had a great birthday yesterday! Thanks again for all the love and support!

After our morning adventure, we split up in the afternoon to tackle different projects. The boys worked on painting the floor while some others helped fold laundry. The rest of the group spent some quality time with the kiddos and helped serve dinner. Overall it was a great first day at Hogar Immanuel! Our kiddos are starting to connect with the residents, so I can foresee an amazing rest of the week here. As always, thank you for you continued support!!

Since today is Sunday, we put on our Sunday best and took some of the children to mass in the Puerto Plata cathedral. Afterwards, we got some ice cream in the city center and then visited the Malecón. This afternoon it looks like we are gonna get dirty, time to paint! We made it! After a long day of travels, we are finally at Hogar Immanuel. We settled in quickly and then met the kiddos. Then we ate! Sydney even ate fish! (She wanted everyone to know). Everyone is very tired tonight so we will be calling it an early night tonight. Thanks for all the love and support! Keep the messages coming!

We made it to the Dominican Republic! After some much needed plane naps, everyone seems energetic and excited to be here. In 2 short hours we will finally be at Hogar Immanuel!
